why is arnold at my grocery store!?!?
so I drive over to my usual local dominion grocery store to pick myself up stuff for dinner. I pull into the lot and it's swarming with guys in suits and cops and just people in general dressed like they should be at a wedding reception or working for the CIA, not hanging out at a grocery store. I just kinda wrote it off as a possible corporate grocery event or something. I walk in and am instantly greeted by happy happy grocery staff and booths overflowing with tasty samples of this and that. I look around and the produce department is stacked as high as is possible in symmetrical pyrimads of luscious goodness complete with a pile of ripe shiny red cherries that were just beckoning to me to dive in! I weave my way amongst the suits who are all standing around looking anxiously towards the entrance. I was getting more and more creeped out in that willy wonka's chocolate factory/stepford wife kinda way. All the shelves are perfectly faced forward and the second something is picked off a shelf a staff member has run over and filled in the gap. i make my way to the exceptionally helpful cashier and stack up my food and the usual checkout chat ensues. When I finally get around to asking what's with everyone and can I get some of what this whole store has been smoking, the cashier tells me "the governator is coming" in that stereotypical austrian accent.

WTF? why the hell is Arnold Schwarzenegger coming to a grocery store?

at this point I glance out the store windows and notice the throng of press that's now arriving, I hear some other staff member saying something about how he was supposed to be here half an hour ago and I grab my goods and bolt before I'm trampled by a media stampede along with my avocados and roasted chicken.

I'm going to go back to finally roll around in those plump juicy cherries tomorrow when the prozac and fakeness wears off of everyone there.
